Chelsea fans will see former favourite Willian playing in the Premier League once again next season, however, the Brazilian will be wearing the colours of London rivals Arsenal.
The Gunners announced the signing of Willian on a free transfer earlier today with the deal being revealed on the club’s official website.
Willian was a free agent after leaving Chelsea at the end of his contract. The two parties were unable to strike a deal to enable the player to spend an eighth year at Stamford Bridge.
The midfielder has signed a three-year deal with Arsenal, an agreement which could see the player end his professional career at The Emirates Stadium.
During his time with Chelsea, Willian made 339 appearances for the club in all competitions while he netted 63 goals. The player left The Bridge with two Premier League titles under his belt along with the Emirates FA Cup, Carabao Cup and UEFA Europa League.
Willian was crowned the Chelsea Player of the Year in 2015/2016 while he was also voted the club’s Player’s Player of the Year on two separate occasions. The winger also made more assists than any other player in the 2018/2019 UEFA Europa League as Chelsea won the competition.
Arsenal have handed Willian their number 12 shirt for the coming season.
