Chelsea FC Women have made a winning start to 2019 with a 3-0 FA Women’s Super League victory over Everton Ladies at Kingsmeadow this afternoon.

Beth England’s early goal set Emma Hayes’ side on their way before Drew Spence and Hannah Blundell added further goals in the second half.

The Blues got off the the perfect start when Erin Cuthbert played in England who opened the scoring with a neat finish into the far corner of the net.

Spence and Karen Carney then both tested visiting keeper Kirstie Levell before the Everton keeper did well to deny England a brace.

The second half saw Millie Bright fire an effort on target from distance before The Blues grabbed a second goal when Karen Carney delivered the ball to Spence who bundled in from just a few yards.

The third goal came just nine minutes later when Blundell struck a crisp effort from the left side of the box which found the bottom corner of the net, a fine individual goal from the Chelsea full-back.

Opponents Everton are improving under new boss Willie Kirk and their best chance came 18 minutes from time when Taylor Hinds got a shot away on goal but Blues keeper Hedvig Lindahl did superbly well to keep the ball out of the net.

Chelsea went on to win the match 3-0 with both the result and performance being exactly what was needed ahead of their crunch clash with Arsenal at Meadow Park next weekend.
