Young Chelsea goalkeeper Jared Thompson has joined Danske Bank Premiership club Warrenpoint Town on a loan deal until the end of the season according to The Blues’ official website.

The 19-year-old stopper is yet to make a first team appearance for The Blues and is some way down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.

It has today been reported that Thompson will continue his development in Northern Ireland with unfashionable club Warrenpoint Town. The youngster will spend the remainder of the current campaign at Milltown. The Point are in eighth position in the league table while they share the worst defensive record in the Northern Irish top flight with Institute.

Thompson signed for parent club Chelsea from the Swindon Town academy as a 12-year-old. The keeper went on to win the FA Youth Cup like many other academy graduates at the club.

The youngster enjoyed his first taste of senior football last season when he joined National League South club Chippenham Town on loan. Thompson made 44 appearances in total for The Bluebirds in which he kept 11 clean sheets.

Thompson could be in-line to make his debut for Warrenpoint Town when they travel to Windsor Park to face Linfield on Saturday afternoon.
