Chelsea FC Women have opted to send young defender Jade Bailey out on loan for the remainder of the season according to The Blues’ official website.
The 23-year-old Londoner has joined Chelsea’s FA Women’s Super League rivals Reading on a loan deal which will see her stay at Adams Park until May.
Bailey has successfully made her comeback from a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury which she sustained in April 2017 but the player has been unable to nail down a regular starting spot in Emma Hayes’ side.
It has been reported that Bailey has signed a new one-year contract with The Blues but will spend the remainder of the campaign at Reading. The youngster will link-up with former Chelsea teammate Gemma Davison at the Berkshire club with the experienced midfielder having made the switch to Reading last summer following the expiry of her contract at Kingsmeadow.
Bailey could be handed her Reading debut when manager Kelly Chambers takes her side to Birmingham City in the FA Women’s Super League on Sunday. The Royals currently trail the Blues by four points in the table and Reading will be keen to close the gap between themselves and fourth place.
Chelsea signed Bailey from neighbours Arsenal ahead of the 2016 campaign and she is one of the club’s most highly-rated young players.
