The Chelsea Development Squad are into the knockout stages of this season’s Checkatrade Trophy after beating Plymouth Argyle 5-0 in their final group match at Home Park last night.

Charlie Brown, Martell Taylor-Crossdale, Tino Anjorin and Daishawn Redan were all on target for The Blues while Argyle defender Yann Songo’o scored an own goal as Chelsea qualified for the next round in style.

Edwards’ men took a 21st-minute lead when Billy Gilmour’s corner kick was headed in by striker Brown.

Chelsea grabbed a two-goal lead just before the break in fortunate circumstances when home defender Songo’o turned the ball into his own net.

The South West Londoners took until 19 minutes before time to add to their lead. The impressive Anjorin put in a superb cross for Taylor-Crossdale to tap home number three and it was soon 4-0 when Anjorin got his own name on the scoresheet with a stunning effort from range.

Chelsea were good value for their huge lead and they were to end the match as 5-0 winners. Midfielder Anjorin was to have one final act to carry out in the match when he put another inch-perfect cross into the box. This time, it was Redan who was on hand to score as The Blues capped off a stunning win.

Edwards’ men are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Arsenal in Premier League 2.
