Joe Edwards’ Chelsea Development Squad will be looking to register a first win in three matches when they travel to The Academy Stadium to face Manchester City on Saturday afternoon.

The Blues last won a month ago when they defeated West Ham United in Dagenham and they have since lost 3-0 to Newport County in the Checkatrade Trophy and 3-1 at home to Liverpool last time out.

This weekend, Chelsea travel to Manchester City in the Premier League 2, a side who are free-scoring in the league this season.

City have won four of their five Premier League 2 fixtures to date this term while they have scored 19 goals including six in victories over both Arsenal and West Ham United. Paul Harsley’s side also won 4-1 against a senior Crewe Alexandra outfit at Gresty Road in the Checkatrade Trophy, a notable result.

Despite collecting 11 points themselves so far this season, this will be an incredibly tough fixture for Chelsea. One positive which they will take into consideration is Manchester City’s leaky defence. City are yet to keep a clean sheet in any competition this season and many of the players which will feature for the club this weekend were part of a side which recently lost 5-2 at Hoffenheim in the UEFA Youth League.

The match is scheduled to kick-off at midday with tickets available on the day.
