English Premier League rivals Southampton and Chelsea meet for the 103rd time tomorrow when the pair go head-to-head in the battle for league points at St Mary’s Stadium.

Unsurprisingly, The Blues have come out on top in times gone by with 44 victories while The Saints have won just 30 with their last success over the South West Londoners coming three years ago.

Ahead of the latest meeting, we take a look back at the last three matches between the two sides to see exactly what happened.

Chelsea 1 Southampton 0 – 16 December 2017

Chelsea’s slim hopes of remaining in the title race were kept on track with a slender 1-0 victory over Southampton at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues were dominant throughout, creating 24 attempts on goal but ultimately, Marcos Alonso’s strike on the stroke of half-time won the match for Antonio Conte’s men.

Wing-back Alonso crashed a stunning free-kick into the net three minutes into time added on at the end of the first half and Southampton simply had no response.

Southampton 2 Chelsea 3 – 14 April 2018

A dress rehearsal of the Emirates FA Cup semi-final took place at St Mary’s Stadium between Southampton and Chelsea and it was to be an absolute thriller.

A lifeless start from Antonio Conte’s men saw The Saints take a shock two-goal lead thanks to a Dusan Tadic first half strike and Jan Bednarek’s effort on the hour.

Olivier Giroud’s first league goal for Chelsea gave The Blues hope with 20 minutes remaining before Eden Hazard swept in an equaliser.

Time was now on Chelsea’s side and and Giroud fired in the winner with 12 minutes remaining as The Blues  kept up the pressure on Tottenham Hotspur in the race for fourth place.

Chelsea 2 Southampton 0 – 22 April 2018

Chelsea reached the final of the Emirates FA Cup by beating a very ordinary Southampton side 2-0 at Wembley Stadium.

Second half goals from Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata were enough to take Chelsea back to Wembley for a third time in the 2017/2018 campaign.

Frenchman Giroud danced his way through The Saints’ defence before stabbing home the first goal of the afternoon just after half-time before replacement Morata headed in a late second after coming off the bench.

Chelsea went on the lift the Emirates FA Cup last season after beating Manchester United 1-0 in the final.

The latest meeting between Southampton and Chelsea is scheduled to kick-off at 2.15.pm on Sunday afternoon and will be screened live on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League channels.
