Young Chelsea striker Ike Ugbo has joined Sky Bet League One club Scunthorpe United on a loan deal until the end of the year according to The Blues’ official website.

The 19-year-old Lewisham-born forward is highly rated by Chelsea, although the youngster is yet to be given an opportunity to feature for the club at first team level.

It has now been reported that Ugbo has joined Sky Bet League One outfit Scunthorpe United on a loan deal until 31 December 2018. The loan move is the player’s third in the space of around 12 months following spells with both Barnsley and MK Dons last season.

Ugbo joined Chelsea as a schoolboy and initially linked up with the club’s Under-10 squad. The striker went on to successfully negotiate his way through the various age groups at Stamford Bridge, winning the FA Youth Cup and the UEFA Youth League twice along with Under-18 Premier League title.

The player started last season on loan at Barnsley but his spell at Oakwell was cut short in January with Ugbo having scored just once in 17 appearances. The frontman was almost immediately loaned to MK Dons for the remainder of the 2017/2018 campaign but he managed to net just twice more.

Ugbo will be hoping that the move to Glanford Park will help him launch his senior career.
