Chelsea midfielder Luke McCormick bagged himself a goal and two assists as The Blues’ Development Squad won 3-0 at Blackburn Rovers this evening.

The 19-year-old Bury St Edmonds-born ace teed up Billy Gilmour and Daishawn Redan to score before netting a goal for himself late in the match.

Chelsea took a second-minute lead at the Leyland County Ground when midfielder McCormick put a dangerous low ball into the box which was placed into the net by teammate Gilmour.

McCormick twice went close to scoring himself for The Blues in the first half with home keeper Andy Fisher coming out on top on both occasions.

Joe Edwards’ side went 2-0 up 11 minutes after the restart when McCormick played the ball to deadly frontman Redan who beat Fisher from close range.

Substitute Charlie Brown then fired wide when left one-on-one with Fisher before Tariq Lamptey saw a stunning effort cannon off the crossbar.

McCormick had the final say seven minutes from time when he scored The Blues’ third goal of the match after being found by a Brown pass.

Chelsea are back in action on Friday evening when they take on Derby County at Stamford Bridge.
