Much-criticised Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko has joined Italian club AC Milan on a season-long loan deal according to The Blues’ official website.

The 23-year-old Paris-born central midfielder has endured a difficult period at Stamford Bridge since joining The Blues from French club AS Monaco last summer in a reported near-£40 million deal.

It has now been confirmed that Bakayoko will spend the remainder of the 2018/2019 campaign with Italian giants AC Milan. The Devil finished in the disappointing position of sixth in Serie A last term and they have been keen to improve their squad over the summer.

Bakayoko has won the Emirates FA Cup during his time in South West London, however, the player has come in for plenty of criticism following some disappointing performances in a Chelsea shirt. The midfielder was used on 43 occasions by former Blues boss Antonio Conte last season and Bakayoko scored three goals but the player has failed to make a positive impression upon new Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri.

The Frenchman is a product of the academy system at French club Rennes before he went on to earn himself a £7 million move to AS Monaco. Bakayoko was named in the UEFA Champions League Team of the Season just the year before joining Chelsea.
