French defender Kurt Zouma will spend another season away from Stamford Bridge with the player having joined The Blues’ English Premier League rivals Everton on a season-long loan deal.

The 23-year-old Lyon-born centre-back spent last season on loan at Stoke City where Zouma was unable to help the club avoid the drop to the Sky Bet Championship.

The Blues’ official website has now reported that Zouma has agreed to join Everton on a season-long loan deal for the upcoming campaign with competition for places in the centre of defence being stronger than ever at Stamford Bridge.

The Toffees finished eighth in the English Premier League last season and the Merseyside club will offer Zouma a high level of first team football.

The defender started his career in his homeland with Saint-Etienne where he successfully made the step up to the first team from the youth team. Zouma made 73 appearances for The Greens in which he scored four goals.

In January 2014, the Frenchman joined Chelsea in a reported £12 million deal but Zouma has found it difficult to nail down a permanent starting place in the side while a nine month injury back in 2016/2017 didn’t help his cause.

Chelsea have made a number of defensive additions to their squad in the past couple of seasons leaving Zouma out of favour.
