Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson is thought to want first refusal on resigning Chelsea loan star Ruben Loftus-Cheek this summer according to the Express.

The 22-year-old Lewisham-born midfielder spent the 2017/2018 campaign on loan at Selhurst Park and made a huge impact with The Eagles.

Palace boss Hodgson believes that the player will now be given regular first team football with parent club Chelsea, however, he has admitted that he would jump at the chance to resign Loftus-Cheek on a temporary basis again should The Blues offer the youngster for a further loan spell this summer.

Loftus-Cheek came through the academy system at Stamford Bridge and has gone on to make 32 senior appearances for The Blues in which he has scored two goals. Current Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has fielded the player on 11 occasions during his time at the club and the Italian has made no secret of his love of Loftus-Cheek.

The midfielder’s loan stint with Crystal Palace saw him make 25 appearances for the South Londoners. Loftus-Cheek also contributed two goals for the club as they recovered from their poor start to the season.

Loftus-Cheek made his senior debut for England in November after impressing national boss Gareth Southgate while he has been included in The Three Lions squad for the FIFA World Cup in Russia.
