Wales Women international midfielder Sophie Ingle has signed a two-year deal with FA Women’s Super League 1 champions Chelsea FC Women according to The Blues’ official website.

The 26-year-old Llandough-born ace has joined The Blues from league rivals Liverpool Ladies where she won the club’s Player of the Season award last season.

Ingle has previously represented Chelsea earlier in her career with the player having spent two years with the South West Londoners prior to a move to Bristol Academy. She returns to the club after gaining plenty of top flight experience with both Bristol Academy and Liverpool.

The player can play either at the heart of the defence or in midfield. During her first spell with Chelsea, former boss Matt Beard regularly fielded Ingle in a defensive role rather than higher up the park.

Chelsea manager Emma Hayes is said to have watched the player’s progress for the past four years and has now moved to sign the Welsh star in a bid to fill the void left by the departures of a number of experienced campaigners earlier this summer.

Ingle was given the captain’s armband for her country back in 2015 and the player has been instrumental in Wales’ excellent qualification campaign for next summer’s FIFA Women’s World Cup.
