Chelsea quartet Andreas Christensen, N’Golo Kante, Olivier Giroud and Matt Miazga all played for their respective nations on Saturday evening as their preparations for this summer’s FIFA World Cup stepped up a notch.

Christensen started in Denmark’s fixture against Mexico while both Kante and Giroud featured from the off for France. Out of favour Chelsea defender Miazga played against Kante and Giroud in Paris.

Young Dane Christensen helped his nation keep a clean sheet as Denmark beat Mexico 2-0 at Brondby Stadium. Yussuf Poulsen and Tottenham Hotspur’s Christian Eriksen were on target for Age Hareide’s side in the second half.

In Paris, France could only draw 1-1 with the United States in their final warm-up match. Kante, Giroud and Miazga all played for their sides from the start, although frontman Giroud lasted just 58 minutes before being replaced by Ousmane Dembele after a clash of heads with Miazga. Julian Green opened the scoring for the United States late in the first half before Kylian Mbappe’s second half goal rescued the draw for the French.

Elsewhere, Spain beat Tunisia 1-0 in Russia thanks to Iago Aspas’ late goal. Blues defender Cesar Azpilicueta was an unused substitute for Julen Lopetegui’s men.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup finals in Russia begins on Thursday afternoon with Russia’s fixture against Saudi Arabia.
