Chelsea are again being linked with a move for Stoke City and England international goalkeeper Jack Butland according to reports by Metro.
The 25-year-old Bristol-born stopper was relegated from the top flight with The Potters last month and is likely to favour a move from the bet365 Stadium.
With current Blues number one Thibaut Courtois poised to leave Stamford Bridge this summer after seemingly rejecting the offer of a new contract with Chelsea, it is believed that Stoke City keeper Butland has been earmarked as a potential replacement for the Belgian.
It has now been reported that Chelsea have made initial enquiries over the availability of the keeper with Stoke City’s relegation possibly increasing the chance of Butland moving to South West London this summer.
The keeper started his career with Birmingham City where he went on to make 46 senior appearances in all competitions. Butland signed for current club Stoke City in January 2013 in a reported £3.5 million deal. The player has made just 88 appearances in almost five-and-a-half years with The Potters after being hit with a catalogue of injuries as well as being out of favour.
Despite failing to help his side avoid relegation to the Sky Bet Championship, Butland made more appearances for Stoke City in 2017/2018 than in any other season (36) and the keeper’s career may finally be ready to really lift off.
