Spanish giants Real Madrid are thought to be weighing up a new approach for Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois according to the Mirror.
The 26-year-old Belgian international stopper has been unable to agree terms with The Blues over a new deal at Stamford Bridge and looks likely to leave the club either this summer or when his contract expires in 2019.
La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid have been keen to sign Courtois for the last 18 months and it has been reported that The Whites will renew their interest in the player this summer. The Spanish outfit will look to agree a cut-price deal with Chelsea for the keeper with Courtois potentially free to leave Stamford Bridge in a little over 12 months’ time.
Courtois spent three years in Madrid earlier in his career when the player enjoyed three seasons on loan at Atletico Madrid. The player made 154 appearances for Los Rojiblancos, winning the La Liga title, Copa del Rey, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Super Cup in the process.
Since returning to parent club Chelsea, the Belgian has made the number one jersey his own. The South West London club are keen to retain the services of their goalkeeper but have been unable to meet Courtois’ demands to date and could be set to lose the player.
