Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is again without defensive duo David Luiz and Ethan Ampadu for the long trip north.
Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is set to pass a late fitness test after missing the midweek draw with Huddersfield Town through injury while Gary Cahill, Victor Moses, Eden Hazard and Olivier Giroud could be recalled to the starting XI.
Chelsea are looking to complete the treble over Newcastle United this season after beating them 3-1 at Stamford Bridge in the English Premier League in December and 3-0 in the Emirates FA Cup Fourth Round at the same venue.
The match is scheduled to kick-off at 3pm and will be screened live on Sky Sports Premier League.
