Chelsea Under-18s are Under-18 Premier League champions after beating Manchester United Under-18s 3-0 in the national final at Leigh Sports Village.

Dujon Sterling, Billy Gilmour and Tariq Lamptey got the goals for The Blues as Jody Morris’ men added another title to what is already a huge collection.

Chelsea took the lead in the fourth minute when Callum Hudson-Odoi’s cross was not fully cleared by the United defence and Sterling fired the loose ball into the net.

The Red Devils fought back and both Nishan Burkart and Angel Gomes forced saves from Blues keeper Jamie Cumming before Marc Guehi and Hudson-Odoi saw efforts saved and blocked as Chelsea returned to the dressing rooms with just the one-goal advantage.

Morris’ men made sure of the win in the second half. First, Gilmour volleyed in from a George McEachran free-kick before six minutes later, Lamptey thrashed the ball into the roof of the United net after Blues keeper Cumming had kept the scoreline at 2-0 at the other end moments earlier.

The only negative point for the South West Londoners came 12 minutes from time when Gilmour was sent-off but Chelsea kept the pressure on their opponents with Hudson-Odoi going close on two occasions as they ended 3-0 winners.

The Blues end the campaign having won the southern and national league titles, the Under-18 Premier League Cup and the FA Youth Cup.
