Chelsea manager Antonio Conte could launch a surprise chase of Manchester United centre-back Eric Bailly this summer according to the Express.

The 24-year-old Ivorian international defender is thought to be unhappy at Old Trafford and the player may consider a move away from the club during the close season

It has been reported that North London outfit Arsenal are keen on the player while Chelsea could opt to submit a shock transfer bid for Bailly.

The defender started his career in Spain with Espanyol where he successfully made the jump from the club’s academy system to the first team. Bailly made just five senior appearances for Magical before quickly being snapped up by Villareal who paid over £5 million for his services.

Bailly spent two seasons at the Estadio de la Ceramica before newly appointed Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho came calling with a reported £30 million transfer offer which was accepted by the Spanish club.

During his time at Old Trafford, the defender has gone on to make 54 appearances in which he has netted one goal. The player has struggled with injury throughout this season while Bailly is said to have fallen out with his manager. The defender could opt for a change of scenery and with Chelsea boss Conte looking for reinforcements at the back, he could be targeted.
