Chelsea will be hoping to get revenge on Burnley for their opening day defeat at Stamford Bridge when the two sides meet at Turf Moor on Thursday night.

The Blues lost 3-2 at The Bridge in August in a game which saw both Gary Cahill and Cesc Fabregas sent-off. That result certainly set the tone for what has been a disappointing season for Antonio Conte’s men.

The home side go into Thursday’s match with a number of injury concerns to contend with. Defender Ben Mee and midfielders Scott Arfield, Steven Defour and Robbie Brady have all been ruled out through injury while Clarets boss Sean Dyche is sweating over the fitness of both Georges-Kevin N’Koudou and Jon Walters with the pair being rated as doubtful.

Chelsea manager Conte could look to reshuffle his pack for the match in Lanchashire ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final at Wembley. Ross Barkley, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Victor Moses are all pushing for recalls while striker Olivier Giroud could be preferred in attack after his heroics against Southampton at St Mary’s at the weekend.

The Italian will definitely be without injured trio David Luiz, Ethan Ampadu and Danny Drinkwater while Marcos Alonso could be suspended should he accept an FA charge for his conduct at Southampton on Saturday.

The match is scheduled to kick-off at 7.45pm and will be screened live on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League channels.
