AS Roma striker Edin Dzeko has claimed that he rejected the opportunity to join English Premier League champions Chelsea as he feels at home in Italy according to reports by The Sun.

The 31-year-old Bosnia and Herzegovina international goal machine held talks with The Blues last month over a potential move to Stamford Bridge.

The proposed move back to the English Premier League broke down and Chelsea ended the transfer window by signing Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud in a reported £18 million deal as an alternative option.

With initial transfer target Dzeko having remained with AS Roma, it has now been revealed that the frontman rejected the opportunity to join Chelsea as he is settled in Rome and did not want a change of scenery at this point in his career.

Dzeko is well known for his goalscoring exploits in the English game with the player having netted 72 goals in 189 appearances for former club Manchester City. The striker spent four-and-a-half years in the North West during which time he won the league title twice and both the League Cup and FA Cup.

It is believed that Dzeko has much respect for admirers Chelsea however he just simply did not want to move his family from their home in Italy.
