English Premier League champions Chelsea have completed the signing of Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud according to BBC Sport.

The 31-year-old France international goal ace is thought to have signed an 18-month deal at Stamford Bridge after being given the all-clear to leave North Londoners Arsenal.

Chelsea are believed to have paid a transfer fee of around £18 million to secure the player’s signature.

The Blues manager Antonio Conte has spent the entire transfer window searching for a central striker to reduce the reliance placed upon Spanish forward Alvaro Morata and the Italian has finally landed one of his leading targets.

It is thought that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger did not want to part with Giroud, however, the arrival of Borussia Dortmund goal machine Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at the Emirates Stadium led to the Frenchman’s u-turn on striking a deal with Chelsea for the player.

During his time at Arsenal, the frontman bagged 105 goals in 253 matches in all competitions as he led the front-line for his club both domestically and in Europe. Giroud’s strength and technical ability has seen him become one of the best number nines in the English Premier League.

In other news, Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi has completed his loan move to German club Borussia Dortmund as expected.
