Chelsea will be looking to put the disappointment of their midweek Carabao Cup semi-final exit to Arsenal behind them when they face English Premier League rivals Newcastle United in the FA Cup Fourth Round at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
The Blues were beaten 2-1 on aggregate by The Gunners at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday evening as Arsene Wenger’s side’s hold over the South West Londoners continued.
Chelsea go into their latest match without a number of senior players. Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, midfielder Cesc Fabregas and striker Alvaro Morata continue to be sidelined with injury while Willian hobbled off with a hamstring problem in the defeat to Arsenal and will not feature. Centre-back Gary Cahill may not be risked despite returning to fitness within the last seven days.
A number of fringe players could be handed rare opportunities to impress including the likes of Ethan Ampadu and Charly Musonda.
Visitors Newcastle United are unable to hand on loan Chelsea winger Kenedy a debut with the youngster being ineligible to face his parent club. Spanish full-back Jesus Gamez is out through injury while fellow defender Florian Lejeune could make a first appearance in over a month.
The match is scheduled to kick-off at 1.30pm on Sunday afternoon and will be screened live on BT Sport 2.
