English Premier League champions Chelsea take on Newcastle United on Sunday in the FA Cup Fourth Round at Stamford Bridge.
It will be the first meeting in this competition between the two sides since 2006, when The Blues were 1-0 winners thanks to an early goal from John Terry.
Chelsea reached this stage of the competition following a penalty shootout victory during a Third Round replay over Sky Bet Championship side Norwich City. Meanwhile, Newcastle United progressed after defeating Sky Bet League Two leaders Luton Town 3-1 earlier this month.
Blues boss Antonio Conte is set to make several changes to the side from the one which lost 2-1 to Arsenal on Wednesday and here is how we predict they will line-up at the weekend.
Predicted line-up (3-4-3): Willy Caballero; Antonio Rudiger, David Luiz, Gary Cahill; Davide Zappacosta, Danny Drinkwater, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Marcos Alonso; Charly Musonda, Michy Batshuayi, Pedro
Predicted substitutes: Eduardo, Victor Moses, Andreas Christensen, Ethan Ampadu, N’Golo Kante, Ross Barkley, Eden Hazard
An ankle injury to Thibaut Courtois that has ruled him out for the past week leaves Willy Caballero in line to make his fourth consecutive start for the club.
Captain Gary Cahill has not featured for Chelsea for the last fortnight due to injury, but he looks set to return to the starting XI. David Luiz may also be called up to the three-man defence, which may see Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta rested.
Italian wing-back Davide Zappacosta may be given an opportunity in the team to give Victor Moses a breather.
Cesc Fabregas’ current injury makes him doubtful for the cup tie; therefore, Tiemoue Bakayoko could be partnered by fellow summer signing Danny Drinkwater in the middle of midfield.
As a result of Kenedy’s exit to Newcastle United, Marcos Alonso remains the club’s only option at left wing-back, meaning he is set to make his 32nd competitive start for The Blues this season.
Willian suffered an injury during the first half of his side’s 2-1 defeat to Arsenal and is unavailable for the clash against The Magpies, which may give Charly Musonda a rare first team chance.
First choice striker Alvaro Morata is also injured which gives Michy Batshuayi an opportunity for self-promotion, with a lot of speculation currently surrounding his future.
Eden Hazard has been a man in-form recently and Conte may feel that this tie is a great opportunity to rest the Belgian winger; Pedro is the likely candidate to play on the left side of Batshuayi.
Both teams are likely to rotate their sides for this match, but Chelsea should have enough quality to eliminate their top flight opponents.
Score Prediction: Chelsea 3-1 Newcastle United
