Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is thought to be weighing up a surprise move for Burnley striker Ashley Barnes according to Sky Sports sources.
The Blues are in need of acquiring attacking reinforcements this month and it is thought that manager Conte is considering a number of different options from both England and abroad.
It has been reported that the Italian has made initial enquiries over the availability of Burnley striker Barnes as The Blues look to finally end their search for a striker.
The 28-year-old Bath born striker has played an occasional role in the first team for The Clarets this season as Sean Dyche’s men have taken the English Premier League by storm. Barnes has made 26 appearances in all competitions for the Lancashire club this term although Chelsea fans may be less than impressed with his goal tally of just four.
Chelsea’s first choice target man Alvaro Morata has failed to hit the back of the net in his last six outings for The Blues and Burnley frontman Barnes could be an alternative option should the South West Londoners opt to submit a formal offer for the player.
Barnes is likely to be a relatively cheap option for Chelsea with the player having often been used as a substitute by his club this season.
