Chelsea are thought to be weighing up a move for young Real Madrid midfielder Oscar Rodriguez according to the Sunday Express.

The 19-year-old Spanish youth international ace is yet to break into the first team squad on a regular basis at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium although Rodriguez did impress manager Zinedine Zidane when on the club’s pre-season tour last summer.

Rodriguez has been tipped for a bright future with The Whites however it has been reported that both Chelsea and Barcelona would like to sign the player. Both clubs could look to submit transfer offers of around £7 million for the midfielder according to reports in Spain, with Rodriguez yet to sign an extension to his current deal with Real Madrid which expires on 30 June.

Real Madrid handed Rodriguez his senior debut in the Copa del Rey earlier this season but no further first team outings have followed, leaving the player unsure of his long-term future with the European champions.

Rodriguez has had to be satisfied with a role in the Real Madrid B team this season and that is believed to have left the youngster desperate for regular first team football at the top level. The player was rumoured to have agreed a new four-year deal with The Whites last summer but it is now thought that Rodriguez did not sign the new contract due to concerns over playing time at the club.
