Belgian winger Charly Musonda praised teammate Callum Hudson-Odoi after the player bagged an impressive hat-trick in a 5-0 Premier League 2 victory over Sunderland at The Hetton Centre.

Hudson-Odoi was simply too hot for The Black Cats defence to handle in a devastating performance in Hetton-le-Hole.

After Ike Ugbo’s close range opener, Hudson-Odoi doubled his side’s advantage with a thunderous strike from six yards. Ethan Ampadu added a third before the break and Hudson-Odoi’s second half stunner along with penalty kick gave Chelsea a 5-0 success.

Arguably the most experienced player on the pitch was winger Musonda. The youngster did not get on the scoresheet himself however he was full of praise for teammate Hudson-Odoi’s impressive feat.

“I am very pleased for him (Hudson-Odoi), he is a very good player” Musonda told the Chelsea Presser during a brief post-match interview.

“He is progressing well and it was good for him to get the hat-trick today.”

Musonda has had an impressive campaign himself this season with the wideman having finally made his first team debut for The Blues. The player has gone on to make six senior appearances for Chelsea to date while he scored his first goal against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup.

The winger made his professional debut in February 2016 during a loan spell with Spanish club Real Betis but the player had to wait a further 18 months before being handed his maiden Chelsea outing.
