Chelsea Under-18s have surrendered points in the Under-18 Premier League after being made to settle for a surprise 2-2 draw with Aston Villa at Cobham this lunchtime.

Tino Anjorin and Martell Taylor-Crossdale got the goals for The Blues as Jody Morris’ men suffered a rare off-day in Surrey.

The Blues took the lead early in the first half on a crisp morning in Surrey when attacker Anjorin found himself in the right place, at the right time, to sweep the ball into the net from close range. Given Chelsea’s recent history, one would expect The Blues to build on their lead against Villa but the visitors proved to be a tough nut to crack just as they had in the same fixture last term.

The Midlands club levelled matters before the break when Jacob Ramsey fired the ball into the net from a Mason Birch cross.

The second half saw Villa continue to stifle the Chelsea attack and The Blues had to wait until around the hour before they regained the lead. So often the man to rely upon, half-time substitute Taylor-Crossdale found the back of the net with a real scrappy effort to continue his good personal goalscoring record at under-18 level for the club.

Chelsea looked certain to hold onto their lead but The Blues fell foul of a rare twist when Dimitri Sea levelled matters 15 minutes before the end for Villa.

Morris’ side had chances to regain the lead but had to settle for a 2-2 draw as they dropped points at home for the first time this season.
