For what is likely to be for the last time for several years, the last two teams to win the English Premier League title, Chelsea and Leicester City, will go head-to-head at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

The two sides have a few things in common; they were both forced to a Third Round replay in the FA Cup at the weekend after shock goalless draws against lower league opposition, both teams have won league titles in the last two seasons, both teams have been guided to UEFA Champions League football by Claudio Ranieri and N’Golo Kante has turned into one of the best central midfielders in world football during his time with both clubs.

The two sides are both in a slight rough patch of form going into this weekend’s clash of the champions.
Chelsea have failed to win any of three matches so far in 2017, whilst Leicester City have only won once in their last six fixtures. Despite The Pensioners’ lack of wins in the current calendar year, they have not lost in their last eight matches.

Antonio Conte’s Blues are currently third in the league table, just a point behind second place Manchester United; meanwhile, Claude Puel’s Foxes sit in eighth place, nine points adrift of the top six. Leicester City have only beaten The Blues once in their last 14 meetings in all competitions, with Chelsea winning 12 of the other 13 matches.

Leicester City have lost in all their last four meetings against the current English Premier League holders. Eight of Chelsea’s 12 goals in that time have come via Spanish players, with Cesar Azpilicueta, Cesc Fabregas, Diego Costa, Pedro, Marcos Alonso and Alvaro Morata all netting against The Foxes in the last 16 months.

I personally feel that Chelsea will get back into gear on Saturday and make the most of their historical edge over the East Midlands side, and end their current poor form.

Score Prediction: Chelsea 2-0 Leicester City
