Norwich City and Chelsea must go at it again at Stamford Bridge in the FA Cup Third Round after the two sides could not be separated in a goalless draw at Carrow Road on Saturday evening.
Clear-cut chances were few and far between in Norfolk as the home side successfully survived a late bombardment from The Blues to secure a replay at The Bridge.
The first half saw Kenedy fire an early chance wide for Antonio Conte’s men before Norwich City took a foothold of the match. Josh Murphy twice failed to hit the target with efforts while James Maddison was also unable to trouble Blues keeper Willy Caballero as the half ended 0-0.
It took Chelsea 50 minutes to test home keeper Angus Gunn and when the chances did finally come, The Blues were unable to take advantage. Michy Batshuayi and Pedro’s long range efforts caused few problems for the Norwich City youngster while Willian’s shot was also kept out of the net by Gunn.
Timm Klose and Murphy sent rare second half Norwich City efforts wide either side of a Pedro strike from outside the box which was straight down the throat of Gunn.
David Luiz then saw a vicious free-kick swerve just over the bar before Daniel Drinkwater and Davide Zappacosta were both denied by Gunn late on as the match ended goalless.
The replay has been pencilled in to take place at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday 16 January at 7.45pm.
