Highly rated young Chelsea forward Ike Ugbo has joined Sky Bet League One club MK Dons on loan for the remainder of the season according to The Blues’ official website.

The 19-year-old Lewisham born hotshot spent the first half of the season on loan at Sky Bet Championship club Barnsley. The player scored once in 18 outings for The Tykes but was recalled by Chelsea earlier this week after concerns over Ugbo’s lack of playing time at Oakwell.

It has now been reported that Ugbo has agreed to drop down a level and join MK Dons on loan for the remainder of the campaign. The Dons are hovering dangerously above the relegation zone in Sky Bet League One and have managed just 28 goals in 26 games in the league.

With Ugbo having been prolific for Chelsea at both under-18 and development squad levels in recent seasons, The Blues are eager to see what the player can do at senior level and MK Dons are expected to offer the striker more game time than he had at previous club Barnsley.

The youngster has been at Chelsea for a decade since joining the club as a schoolboy. Ugbo is yet to make a first team appearance for The Blues but it is hoped that he can make a similar impact in the senior game as the one which has been made by fellow academy graduate Tammy Abraham.
