Stoke City and England international goalkeeper Jack Butland would favour a move to Liverpool if he is to leave the Bet365 Stadium according to the Daily Star.

The 24-year-old Bristol born keeper has previously been linked with a move to Chelsea if current Blues number one Thibaut Courtois leaves the club in the summer.

The South West Londoners’ hopes of landing the player have now been dealt a blow with Butland thought to favour a move to rivals Liverpool with The Reds looking to replace under-fire keeper Simon Mignolet. Butland is likely to command transfer offers in excess of £30 million with Stoke City keen to hold onto the player if at all possible.

The keeper has managed 17 appearances for The Potters in the English Premier League this season, a real improvement on previous seasons as Butland has finally managed to shake off a catalogue of injury woes. The player could be key to Stoke City’s survival hopes this season as the club look to find more consistent form in the second half of the campaign.

Butland is coming up to celebrating five years of service with Stoke City however he has managed just 69 appearances in all competitions due to injury problems and previously being out of favour at the club. The player is now regarded as one of the top keepers in English football and a step up to a top club may be imminent.
