Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez has confirmed that the club are looking to sign Chelsea winger Kenedy on loan during the January transfer window according to the Chronicle Live.

The 21-year-old Brazil born ace has been used sparingly by The Blues this term with the player being on the fringes of the first team squad at Stamford Bridge.

With Chelsea’s English Premier League rivals Newcastle United having initially been interested in loaning Kenedy in the summer, the Chelsea Presser confirmed earlier this week that The Magpies would be offered the player in January should The Blues make some additions of their own.

Former Blues boss Benitez has now confirmed that the Tyneside club are in talks with Chelsea although a loan deal for the winger is some way from being agreed between the two clubs.

With Kenedy having not been used by The Blues in the English Premier League this season, a move to St James’ Park would provide the youngster with some vital first team playing experience in the top flight of English football.

Should the player be allowed to leave on loan in January, it is almost certain that Kenedy will join Newcastle United with The Magpies desperate to sign the player to aid their survival bid following last season’s promotion from the Sky Bet Championship.
