Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata has withdrawn from the Spanish international squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup Qualifying matches due to injury according to Metro.

Spain are scheduled to take on Albania on home soil on Friday evening before facing an away fixture against Israel on Monday.

It has been reported that Blues frontman Morata will not be fit to feature in either match and has withdrawn from the squad.

The striker played just 35 minutes of Chelsea’s 1-0 home defeat to Manchester City in the English Premier League on Saturday evening before having to be replaced by Willian after picking up a hamstring injury. It is hoped that the player will recover from the problem in time to face bottom club Crystal Palace in The Blues’ next match on 14 October however Morata will not be rushed back into action for Spain in the meantime.

Since joining Chelsea from Real Madrid in the summer, Morata has played a key role for his new club. The forward has bagged an impressive seven goals in just nine outings with the player averaging just under a goal a game in the English Premier League.

Defeat to Manchester City has left The Blues six points off the pace in the English Premier League and it is important that Morata is fresh for the potential banana skin that awaits Chelsea at Selhurst Park in 12 days’ time.
