Sky Bet League Two club Barnet have completed the signing of Chelsea forward Malakai Mars for an undisclosed fee according to The Bees’ official website.

The 18-year-old has spent time in The Blues’ academy system but the player has failed to make a single appearance for the club at first team level.

It has been reported that Mars has re-joined former club Barnet from Chelsea for an undisclosed fee. The youngster started his career in The Bees’ academy system but joined the current English Premier League champions in 2014 after signing a scholarship with The Blues.

Mars struggled to reach the same standards as his teammates in Chelsea’s Under-18 side and the player has previously been sent to Crystal Palace for work experience. The striker has also spent time on loan at Derby County and has had several trials with English Football League clubs in recent months in a bid to earn a deal away from Stamford Bridge.

In the end, former club Barnet were willing to offer Mars a chance to relaunch his career and it is believed that the player will link-up with the club’s Development Squad to further his experience prior to competing for a place in the first team starting XI at The Hive.
