Young Chelsea midfielder Jeremie Boga has joined Sky Bet Championship club Birmingham City on a loan deal for the remainder of the season according to The Blues’ official website.

Like many of his former Chelsea academy teammates, the 20-year-old Marseille born midfielder has signed a new three-year contract with The Blues prior to leaving the club on loan.

Boga links up with former English Premier League boss Harry Redknapp at Birmingham City. The Blues have suffered from a stuttering start to the season which has seen the club pick up just four points from their opening five league matches. The Midlands club narrowly avoided relegation from English football’s second tier on the final day of last season.

With first team squad numbers at Stamford Bridge being at a minimal level, Boga has found himself amongst the senior squad in recent weeks and the player made his Chelsea debut in their 3-2 defeat to Burnley at The Bridge on the opening day of the season.

Boga has spent two previous loan spells away from Stamford Bridge with the youngster having enjoyed time with French club Rennes and Spanish La Liga outfit Granada. The midfielder also made his senior international debut for the Ivory Coast earlier this year after impressing head coach Marc Wilmots.
