Out of favour Chelsea midfielder Mario Pasalic has joined Russian champions Spartak Moscow on a season-long loan deal according to The Blues’ official website.

The 22-year-old Mainz born midfielder is yet to play for The Blues at first team level since joining the club in a reported £3 million deal from Croatian club HNK Hajduk Split three years ago.

Pasalic spent virtually the whole of last season on loan at Italian club AC Milan where he made 26 appearances and scored five goals. The Serie A outfit were thought to be considering a permanent move for the midfielder while Turkish club Galatasaray are believed to have been tracking the player in recent months.

It has now been reported that the midfielder will feature for neither club this season and has instead joined Russian champions Spartak Moscow on a season-long loan deal. Like many of his other young Chelsea teammates, Pasalic has signed a new contract with The Blues prior to the loan move, extending his stay at Stamford Bridge until summer 2021.

Pasalic’s loan move is his fourth since joining Chelsea. The youngster spent his first season as a Blues player with Spanish club Elche while a move to French outfit AS Monaco followed in 2015/2016. The midfielder won the Supercoppa Italiana with AC Milan last term and another exciting opportunity awaits the player in Russia.
