Chelsea midfielder Marco van Ginkel has joined Dutch club PSV Eindhoven on a season-long loan deal according to The Blues’ official website.

The 24-year-old Amersfoort born midfield ace has extended his contract at Stamford Bridge until 2020 however the player has again been loaned out to gain first team experience.

It has been reported that the Dutchman has re-joined PSV on a season-long loan deal for the third time in his career. Van Ginkel has spent most of the last 18 months at the Philips Stadion and the player will continue his development with the Eredivisie outfit during the 2017/2018 campaign.

Van Ginkel has made 31 appearances for PSV to date and has weighed in with an impressive 15 goals while he was an Eredivisie title winner with the club in 2015/2016.

The player started his career with Vitesse Arnhem before joining Chelsea in summer 2013 in a reported £8 million deal. Van Ginkel has gone on to make just four competitive appearances for The Blues in a difficult spell with the English Premier League club.

With van Ginkel often out of favour at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea have opted to send the player out on loan on several occasions. The midfielder has enjoyed temporary spells with AC Milan and Stoke City in recent seasons prior to two spells at PSV. It was thought that van Ginkel could leave The Blues on a permanent basis this summer and news of his contract extension comes as something of a surprise.
