Chelsea Ladies have completed the signing of Swedish international defender Magdalena Eriksson on an initial two-year deal according to The Blues’ official website.

The 23-year-old Stockholm born left-back is one of the brightest young talents in the Swedish game and the player represented her country at the 2016 Olympics in Rio alongside Blues keeper Hedvig Lindahl.

Eriksson joins The Blues from Swedish club Linkopings FC, a club which were last crowned Swedish top flight champions in 2016 and the player arrives at Kingsmeadow with experience of playing in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

The defender started her senior career with Hammarby IF DFF where she made her first team debut at just 17 years of age. The player spent just months at Kanalplan Stadium before being snapped up by Djurgardens IF in November 2012. Eriksson’s time with The Iron Stoves was difficult with the club relegated from the top flight in her first season with the club and the player opted to leave Djurgardens IF to join Linkopings IF DFF.

After joining Linkopings IF DFF in 2013, the defender has gone on to star for the club and after making close to 100 appearances for LFC, Eriksson leaves the Swedish club as something of a club legend.

The full-back joins a multi-national Chelsea side which includes players from England, Scotland, Switzerland, Norway, the Republic of Ireland, South Korea and the United States of America.
