Chelsea FC Women will face three London derbies in the group stage of the FA Women’s Continental League Cup.

The draw for the opening round was made by The Football Association earlier today with Chelsea facing some stern opposition in their group.

The Blues have been placed in Group B which contains Barclays FA Women’s Super League title rivals Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and the London City Lionesses.

Chelsea are the current holders of the FA Women’s Continental League Cup after they defeated Arsenal 2-1 in last season’s final at The City Ground. Forward Beth England netted both goals for Emma Hayes’ side in Nottingham. Given the investment in Chelsea’s squad again this summer, The Blues will be heavily fancied to retain the trophy for the second consecutive year.

Hayes’ side begin their 2020/2021 campaign this weekend. The South West Londoners travel to Manchester United for the opening match of the Barclays FA Women’s Super League season on Sunday. Chelsea will also compete in four cup competitions this season. In addition to the FA Women’s Continental League Cup, The Blues will complete their 2019/2020 Women’s FA Cup involvement and will participate in this year’s competition. Chelsea are also set to return to the UEFA Women’s Champions League later this year after a one-season absence.
