The second leg of Chelsea’s UEFA Champions League last-16 tie against Bayern Munich is set to be staged at the Allianz Arena according to reports on The Blues’ official website.
Chelsea trail the German club 3-0 from the first leg and Frank Lampard’s men face a huge challenge if they are to reach the last eight of the competition.
With Europe having been severely hit by the Coronavirus pandemic, it was initially believed that Chelsea may take on Bayern Munich on neutral territory in Portugal in August as UEFA attempt to complete the 2019/2020 tournament at a rapid pace. It is now being reported that a neutral venue is no longer being considered for Chelsea’s last-16 second leg tie with The Blues set to face Bayern Munich in Germany as originally planned.
A date for the fixture is yet to be confirmed but it is thought that Chelsea could travel to the Allianz Arena in early August. The game is almost certain to be played behind-closed-doors with crowds not yet permitted to attend matches in Germany once again.
The quarter-final ties, semi-final ties and final are set to be played in Portugal during an 11-day spell. The quarter-final draw will take place at UEFA headquarters in Lyon, Switzerland tomorrow.
