Chelsea FC Women have completed the signing of former Liverpool forward Niamh Charles according to reports on The Blues’ official website.
The 21-year-old attacker left The Reds following their relegation from the FA Women’s Championship and the former England Under-20 international has quickly found herself a new club.
It has today been revealed that Charles has joined Barclays FA Women’s Super League champions Chelsea. The youngster has initially signed a three-year deal at Kingsmeadow which should allow Charles to experience European club football for the first time in her career the UEFA Women’s Champions League next season.
The player had spent her entire career to date with Liverpool prior to her recent departure. Charles came through The Reds’ Centre of Excellence before going on to star for the Merseyside club at senior level. Her fifth-minute goal against Chelsea in December saw Liverpool claim an unlikely point from their Barclays FA Women’s Super League clash with The Blues at Prenton Park.
Chelsea have been pencilled in to start their 2020/2021 campaign in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League in early September. Charles is likely to link-up with her new teammates at the end of July when Emma Hayes’ side regroup for pre-season training.
