Chelsea finally return to Premier League action on Sunday when they travel to Villa Park to take on struggling Aston Villa.
It feels a long time since The Blues thrashed Everton in their last match but the games will now come thick and fast as the 2019/2020 is finally brought to a conclusion.
Aston Villa go into the match after battling to something of a bore draw with Sheffield United on Wednesday evening. Dean Smith’s side should have lost that match, the scoreline only remained at 0-0 due to a blunder by Hawk-Eye.
The home side are unable to call upon Chelsea loanee Danny Drinkwater with the player ineligible to face his parent club while defender Bjorn Engels is sidelined with injury. Frenchman Frederic Guilbert could return.
There is plenty of competition in the Chelsea squad with several players having impressed against Queens Park Rangers. Fit-again midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek and youngster Billy Gilmour both netted braces in a 7-1 rout and could come into manager Frank Lampard’s thoughts for the trip to Villa.
The Blues will be without Fikayo Tomori and Callum Hudson-Odoi due to injury while Jorginho is suspended.
The match kicks-off at 4.15pm on Sunday afternoon and will be screened live on Sky Sports.
