Chelsea will face German champions Bayern Munich in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League last-16 tie in early August.

The Blues are 3-0 down from the first leg which was staged at Stamford Bridge prior to the suspension of football in March.

Frank Lampard’s men have very slim hopes of progressing to the last eight of the competition, however, UEFA have today confirmed that The Blues will provisionally play the second leg of their last-16 tie on either 7 or 8 August 2020.

At this stage, it has not been determined whether Chelsea will take on Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena or if the tie will take place on neutral territory in Portugal.

In the unlikely event that Chelsea advance beyond the last-16, the quarter-finals will be held as one-off ties between 12-15 August. The tournament’s one-off semi-final ties have been pencilled in for 18-19 August while the final will be staged at the Estadio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica on 23 August. From the quarter-finals onwards, all ties will be staged in Portugal in the city of Lisbon.

Chelsea are on course to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League with The Blues currently occupying fourth position in the Premier League table with nine games remaining.
