Chelsea are set to return to Premier League action next month with a date having been agreed for the competition to resume.
The Premier League held video calls with all 20 clubs today to discuss a potential return to action and a date of the 17 June has now been agreed in principle. The decision was revealed on the Premier League’s official website.
The competition will return with Aston Villa v Sheffield United and Manchester City v Arsenal on 17 June before a full weekend fixture list is set to be staged between 19-22 June.
It has been proposed that weekend fixtures will be staged at the following times with games set to be broadcast on Sky Sports, BT Sport, Amazon Prime and on free-to-air television through BBC Sport.
Saturday 12:30, 15:00, 17:30; 20:00
Sunday 12:00, 14:00, 16:30; 19:00
The proposal for midweek fixtures is as stated below.
Tuesday 18:00; 20:00
Wednesday 18:00; 20:00
Thursday 18:00; 20:00
A Premier League return will only occur should health and safety measures be maintained and it has been confirmed that matches will be played behind-closed-doors.
The order in which Chelsea’s final nine league fixtures will be played is yet to be determined. At the time which the Premier League was suspended, The Blues were set to take on struggling Aston Villa at Villa Park.
