Chelsea’s first team players will return to training at Cobham tomorrow morning ahead of the potential return of Premier League football according to reports by Sky Sports.

English football’s top flight has been tipped to return next month following a three-month absence due to the Coronavirus pandemic and that prospect has moved a step closer following an emergency Premier League meeting earlier today.

It is understood that the Premier League met the 20 member clubs via video link to hold a vote on a potential return to training. The majority of clubs voted in favour of a return to training with players set to get back on the training pitch from tomorrow morning.

It has been reported that training sessions will be staged in groups with strict social distancing guidelines initially being followed. The Premier League have no concrete plans for fixtures to be staged just yet with league chiefs expected to continue to monitor safety guidelines and take the advice of the UK Government.

The German Bundesliga was the first major European football competition to return following the Coronavirus pandemic. Fixtures recommenced over the course of the weekend and the season is set to continue to progress following a relatively successful round of action.
