The English Premier League are still targeting a conclusion to the current season by 30 June following a video call with UEFA according to reports by Sky Sports sources.

Chelsea are currently occupying fourth place in the English Premier League table but they have not been able to play a match since beating Everton 4-0 at Stamford Bridge on 8 March due to the Coronavirus crisis.

The majority of elite football across Europe is suspended with the English Premier League not expected to start again until at least 1 May. The latest update is that English Premier League chiefs met with UEFA on Tuesday and both parties are keen to complete the season by the end of June.

With the UK currently on ‘lockdown’ until after the Easter break, it seems unlikely that fans will be permitted to congregate in large groups again for the foreseeable future. It could be that the English Premier League come to an agreement to end the season with all remaining games being played behind closed doors.

Chelsea have nine games left to play in the English Premier League while they remain in the Emirates FA Cup. They also have the second leg of their last-16 UEFA Champions League tie against Bayern Munich to complete.
