Chelsea’s push for UEFA Champions League qualification continued as they defeated Everton 4-0 in an English Premier League fixture at Stamford Bridge this afternoon.
The Blues raced into a 4-0 lead within 55 minutes in South West London as they capped-off an excellent week in league and cup.
Visiting keeper Jordan Pickford denied Mason Mount an opening goal after just seven minutes but The Blues soon made the breakthrough when the same player found the bottom corner of the net with a shot on the turn.
One goal soon became two for Chelsea when Ross Barkley crossed for Pedro to place the ball beyond Pickford into the net.
Chelsea added to their lead six minutes after half-time when Willian thumped a stunning effort from range into the back of the net. Everton’s reaction to conceding was again poor with Willian teeing up Olivier Giroud to score a quick-fire fourth goal.
Pedro and Barkley both forced saves from Pickford as The Blues searched for a fifth goal before Frank Lampard’s men were largely restrained to shots from distance during the final 20 minutes.
The scoreline was to remain 4-0 and Chelsea can now look ahead to a trip to Aston Villa next weekend.
