Chelsea came from behind to beat London rivals Arsenal 2-1 in their Premier League 2 fixture at Meadow Park this evening.
The Blues trailed to a Folarin Balogun 16th-minute goal but strikes from Armando Broja and Billy Gilmour saw the match turn in Chelsea’s favour.
There was little to separate the two sides in Boreham Wood when Arsenal broke the deadlock. Balogun picked up the ball 30 yards from goal and hit a wonderful strike into the corner of the Chelsea net.
Levi Colwill then bravely blocked a Balogun shot to deny the player a second goal before Chelsea levelled matters when Broja headed in from a corner kick.
Chelsea took the lead 13 minutes later when Arsenal defender Rob Holding deflected a cross towards his own goalkeeper and Gilmour scrambled home the loose ball.
Arsenal went close to an equaliser early in the second half but Blues keeper Karlo Ziger got down low to claw away a Balogun shot before Sam Greenwood produced an unforgivable miss when he failed to find the back of the net when clear of the Chelsea defence.
The home side piled on the pressure with Ziger again denying Balogun but they couldn’t find a way through as Chelsea hung on to keep the heat on league leaders Leicester City.
