Chelsea forward Tino Anjorin netted twice as The Blues battled to a 2-2 draw with Everton at The Pure Stadium in Southport this evening.
The Blues are leading this season’s Premier League 2 and they collected what might turn out to be a useful point from their match with The Toffees on Merseyside this evening.
Everton were the stronger of the two sides early on and Blues keeper Karlo Ziger denied both Sebastian Quirk and Matthew Fouls at point blank range before Armando Broja spurned a good opportunity at the other end after home keeper Joao Virginia had narrowed the angle.
The home side took the lead just after the half-hour mark when Chelsea failed to clear their lines from a corner kick and Quirk bundled the ball home.
Chelsea levelled matters just 11 seconds into the second period when Anjorin charged down the ball and fired an effort low into the Everton net before the same player struck The Blues into the lead from the penalty spot after teammate Tariq Uwakwe had been fouled.
The home side soon had a penalty of their own when George McEachran was harshly adjudged to have committed a foul in the box. Antony Evans stepped up to take the spot kick and made no mistake from 12 yards.
Anjorin went close to finding the winner for Chelsea on a couple of occasions but they had to settle for a draw with the point moving them three points clear at the top of the Premier League 2 table.
